The Wool Rooms, Tasmania: Embracing its industrial heritage with a Cheminees Philippe wood burning fireplace.
A country home filled with vintage charm and warmth features the Cheminees Philippe Radiante 700 fireplace.
Nestled on a two-hectare property overlooking the stunning River Tamar near Launceston, The Wool Rooms is a picturesque family home that blends history, style, and warmth. Once a merino sheep pasture, the estate now hosts a thoughtfully designed residence that draws inspiration from the property’s industrial heritage, including its shearing sheds and outbuildings. Owners Pearl and Ross Blandford wanted to create a passive home filled with soul and character that could stand up and endure a chilly Tasmanian winter. They chose the Cheminees Philippe Radiante 700 to do just that.
The design of The Wool Rooms pays homage to its agricultural roots with spacious interiors that evoke the functional, industrial buildings that once stood on the property. Pearl and Ross carefully curated vintage pieces, each with a story to tell, to furnish and decorate their home. These unique finds bring a sense of character and warmth, helping to create a light filled space that feels both lived-in and timeless.
“We adore the Radiante 700 and believe it fits perfectly with the character of our home”.
A standout feature of the home is the Cheminees Philippe wood-burning fireplace, which perfectly complements the vintage, industrial aesthetic.
Having lived in several older homes, the couple understood the drawbacks of such homes with heating efficiency, particularly in colder climates and prioritised natural light and passive heating principles into the design. Renowned for their efficient slow combustion heating, the wood burning heater provides more than just comfort—it’s central to the home’s thermal efficiency. Positioned strategically in the key living space within the home, the fireplace helps maintain a cosy, consistent temperature throughout the colder months, making the space not just stylish but functional.
The integration of the Cheminees Philippe Radiante 700 into the home’s design reflects Pearl and Ross’s commitment to the home’s historic appeal and energy efficiency. With its iconic cast iron design and exceptional performance, the Cheminees Philippe contributes to the overall atmosphere of The Wool Rooms, enhancing the historic charm while ensuring the home remains warm and inviting throughout the winter.
“The weather is getting chilly here and I’m looking forward to enjoying many nights snuggled near the fireplace, with a glass of something yummy in hand.”
