Cheminees Philippe have been well received in Australia and for 30 years the benchmark for beautiful, energy efficient, slow combustion/open fire heating. The aesthetic appeal of the Cheminees Philippe fireboxes with their unique castings and fabulous view of the fire offer another appealing feature for all styles of home.
Cheminees Philippe’s knowledge and expertise in designing and engineering slow combustion/open fires is second to none. Their manufacturing facilities have been operating for over 50 years and their advanced engineering facility is governed by strict quality control and testing of all their products before they leave their factory.
Cheminees Philippe fires are designed to perform in the harshest of European winters. Using only the finest grade cast iron in all their products guarantees excellent quality, superb conduction of heat and durability of their cast iron fireboxes, which is backed by a five year warranty.
Q. What is the heating and fuel efficiency of a Cheminees Philippe compared to an open fire?
Cheminees Philippe fires are up to 75% more efficient than an open fire and decrease the use of fuel by being able to regulate the amount of oxygen to the fire.
An open fire is considered to be about 25% efficient at converting fuel into heat, whereas a Cheminees Philippe is around 75% efficient. The all cast iron firebox with its unique cast iron heat transmission fins optimises the amount of heat generated from the fuel. The advanced air control system allows you to adjust the heat output and burn rate unlike an open fire.
Q. How do I install a Cheminees Philippe into a new home or renovation where there is no chimney?
For a beautiful brand new fireplace, the installation is simple. Decide on the position of the fireplace and the size and style of fireplace you would like. Create a base for the firebox to sit on (see installation instructions) Sit the Cheminees Philippe firebox on its base, run the flue kit through to the outside and then build a surround out of a brick, Hebel or a fireproof material of your choice to create the look you desire. (please refer to the installation instructions)
Cheminees Philippe also offer a large range of surrounds and mantels to choose from. (see Gallery)
If it’s a freestanding look you prefer, Cheminees Philippe have a range of fireboxes which look fabulous as freestanding fires.
Q. Can I install a Cheminees Philippe into an existing fireplace?
Yes. Over the past 30 years, Cheminees Philippe’s fireplaces have been installed into 100’s of existing chimneys, converting inefficient and draughty fireplaces into safe and efficient slow combustion fires.
We recommend that a qualified person check the stability of the chimney, make any necessary repairs and have the chimney swept before any modifications are made to accommodate one of our fireboxes.
Please check that the size of the existing fireplace, that is, the width, depth and height of the opening is large enough to accommodate the firebox. In some instances some modifications to the size of your chimney maybe able to be made.
